Competition Heats Up at St Augustine’s Sports Day
St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington celebrated a successful Sports Day 2026, with pupils taking part in a day of competition, teamwork and sporting achievement. After an exciting series of events, St Patrick’s House (Green) emerged as this year's overall winners, securing first place with an impressive 5,162 points.

Well done to our girls’ football team, who showed fantastic determination this week despite their defeat to Abbey. The team played brilliantly and should be very proud of their efforts. We also have two exciting matches still to come before the end of the season. Our boys’ team will be playing away to Abbey next week, followed by the girls’ team who will take on Gurney Pease the week after.

Our boys’ football team had a fantastic afternoon at Rockliffe Park, the training ground of Middlesbrough FC. Thanks to Mrs Kalimeris, who organised this fantastic opportunity, the boys took part in training drills led by academy coaches, gaining a valuable insight into life as a professional footballer.
Wembley Journey: A Proud Day for St Augustine’s
Excitement was building this week at St Augustine’s as our football team prepared for their big day at Wembley. In the lead-up to the match, the boys had an incredible opportunity to be inspired by a very special guest — David Hodgson, former player for Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Liverpool, as well as former manager of Darlington.

What an unforgettable morning of sport for St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington as two of our talented teams took to the court in the Darlington Primary Basketball Cup! From the very first whistle, both teams showed incredible skill, determination and teamwork — representing our school brilliantly throughout the entire competition. With eight teams taking part, the standard was exceptionally high. But St Augustine’s rose to the challenge. Both of our teams won all three of their group-stage games, securing well-deserved places in the semi-finals.
