Excitement was building this week at St Augustine’s as our football team prepared for their big day at Wembley. In the lead-up to the match, the boys had an incredible opportunity to be inspired by a very special guest — David Hodgson, former player for Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Liverpool, as well as former manager of Darlington.

David spent time with the team, sharing stories from his professional football career and offering invaluable advice and top tips ahead of Sunday’s match. His visit was a truly motivating experience, helping to build confidence, focus and determination within the squad. We are so grateful to David for taking the time to support and inspire our players — it was fantastic to welcome him to St Augustine’s!

Match day at Wembley Stadium was a huge moment for our team — an unforgettable experience and a proud occasion for our whole school community. The boys gave their all on the pitch, showing teamwork, resilience and great sportsmanship throughout the game.

Although the match ended in a 2–0 defeat, we would like to congratulate Hemel Hempstead on their victory.

Despite the result, we could not be prouder of our players. Representing St Augustine’s at Wembley is an incredible achievement in itself, and the team should celebrate their journey, effort and commitment along the way.

This has been a truly special experience that our pupils will remember for years to come — and one that has inspired everyone at St Augustine’s.
