St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington celebrated a successful Sports Day 2026, with pupils taking part in a day of competition, teamwork and sporting achievement.
After an exciting series of events, St Patrick’s House (Green) emerged as this year's overall winners, securing first place with an impressive 5,162 points.
The school thanked all pupils for their enthusiasm and participation throughout the day, highlighting the positive attitude and effort shown across every year group.
A special congratulations was given to the school's youngest pupils in Nursery, who took part in their very first Sports Day. Their participation marked an important milestone and provided an opportunity to experience the excitement of a whole-school sporting event.
The day also held special significance for Year 6 pupils, who competed in their final Sports Day at St Augustine’s. As they prepare for the next stage of their education, the event provided a chance to create lasting memories with friends and classmates.
The final house standings were:
- St Patrick’s House – 5,162 points
- St Andrew’s House – 4,801 points
- St David’s House – 4,777 points
- St George’s House – 4,291 points
A spokesperson for the school said: “Thank you to everyone who participated in today's Sports Day. We hope the children enjoyed the day, and we look forward to next year's competition. To all of the children in Nursery, well done in taking part in your first Sports Day. To our wonderful Year 6 children, we hope you have enjoyed your final Sports Day with us, making lots of memories.”
Sports Day remains one of the highlights of the school year, bringing together pupils, staff and families to celebrate participation, teamwork and school spirit.
