Recognising Success at the Trust Virtues Awards
St Augustine’s was proud to be recognised at the recent Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust Virtues Awards, receiving two Trust Virtue Awards in recognition of the outstanding contributions made by members of our school community.
Celebrating the Feast Day of St Carlo Acutis
Today, Year 6 celebrated the Feast Day of their class saint, St Carlo Acutis, with a special day of reflection, kindness and community. To mark the occasion, the children wore trainers in recognition of Carlo's life as an ordinary young person who showed that holiness is for everyone. The trainers symbolised that Carlo was a modern teenager who walked the path to sainthood through everyday life, making his example especially meaningful and inspiring for children today.
Caring for God's Creation with Laudato Si’
Year 1 have been learning about Laudato Si’ and Pope Francis' call to care for our common home. As part of their learning, the children recycled old bottles and transformed them into bird feeders, putting Catholic Social Teaching into action by demonstrating their commitment to Care for God's Creation. Through this hands-on activity, they explored how everyday choices can help protect and support the world around us.

Marking the Beginning of Black History Month
As Black History Month begins, St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School is celebrating an important opportunity to recognise, reflect upon and learn about the achievements, contributions and experiences of Black people throughout history and in society today. To mark the start of the month, our school community gathered together for a special Celebration of the Word led by Mr Cummins. During this time of prayer and reflection, pupils considered the importance of recognising the dignity and value of every person, remembering that we are all uniquely created and loved by God.
Reception Children Explore Their Future Careers
At St Augustine's Catholic Primary School, our Reception children have been enjoying conversations about jobs, careers and their hopes for the future. As part of their learning, the children shared ideas about the exciting careers they would like to pursue when they are older. From pop stars and firefighters to doctors and vets, there was no shortage of enthusiasm and imagination as they explored the many different ways people contribute to and support our communities.
A Fantastic Day of Cross Country
Pupils demonstrated fantastic self-belief, determination and resilience as they took part in the recent Cross Country competition. Throughout the event, our runners gave their very best effort, tackling the challenging course with enthusiasm and a positive attitude. It was wonderful to see so many children pushing themselves, supporting one another and showing great sportsmanship from start to finish.

Parents Take to the Track at St Augustine’s
St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington has shared the much-anticipated photographs from its parent races, giving families a chance to relive one of the most memorable moments from the recent school event. Parents enthusiastically took part in the races, providing plenty of excitement and entertainment for pupils. The event saw adults step onto the track and embrace the competitive spirit, much to the delight of the children cheering from the sidelines.
Competition Heats Up at St Augustine’s Sports Day
St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School in Darlington celebrated a successful Sports Day 2026, with pupils taking part in a day of competition, teamwork and sporting achievement. After an exciting series of events, St Patrick’s House (Green) emerged as this year's overall winners, securing first place with an impressive 5,162 points.
St Augustine’s Reception Class Welcomes Special Police Visit
St Augustine’s Primary School in Darlington welcomed a very special guest today, as the Reception class enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from a local police officer. The session gave young pupils the opportunity to learn about the role of the police and how officers help to keep communities safe. During the visit, the police officer introduced Ben, who joined the class and helped make the experience both engaging and memorable.
Pupils Shine at Quadkids Event in Darlington
St Augustine’s Primary School in Darlington is celebrating the success of its Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who recently took part in an exciting Quadkids athletics event. The children enjoyed a fantastic morning of sport and physical activity, where they competed in four different events. In each activity, pupils earned points, encouraging both individual effort and teamwork throughout the competition.

Reception pupils at St Augustine’s School in Darlington have been learning how sport can bring people together across the world, using the excitement of the FIFA World Cup as inspiration. The engaging lesson introduced young learners to different countries, cultures and communities, helping them to understand how sport connects people globally.
