St Augustine’s Reception Class Welcomes Special Police Visit
St Augustine’s Primary School in Darlington welcomed a very special guest today, as the Reception class enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from a local police officer. The session gave young pupils the opportunity to learn about the role of the police and how officers help to keep communities safe. During the visit, the police officer introduced Ben, who joined the class and helped make the experience both engaging and memorable.
Pupils Shine at Quadkids Event in Darlington
St Augustine’s Primary School in Darlington is celebrating the success of its Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, who recently took part in an exciting Quadkids athletics event. The children enjoyed a fantastic morning of sport and physical activity, where they competed in four different events. In each activity, pupils earned points, encouraging both individual effort and teamwork throughout the competition.

Reception pupils at St Augustine’s School in Darlington have been learning how sport can bring people together across the world, using the excitement of the FIFA World Cup as inspiration. The engaging lesson introduced young learners to different countries, cultures and communities, helping them to understand how sport connects people globally.
Resilience and Teamwork on Display
Well done to our girls’ football team, who showed fantastic determination this week despite their defeat to Abbey. The team played brilliantly and should be very proud of their efforts. We also have two exciting matches still to come before the end of the season. Our boys’ team will be playing away to Abbey next week, followed by the girls’ team who will take on Gurney Pease the week after.
Year 5 Visit Darlington Train Station
Our Year 5 pupils have arrived safely at Darlington Train Station and are full of excitement as they take part in the grand opening celebration following the incredible £100 million redevelopment. This is a fantastic opportunity for our children to be part of such a significant local event, and we are very proud to see them representing St Augustine’s. Their enthusiasm and curiosity have already made it a memorable experience!
Wembley Journey: A Proud Day for St Augustine’s
Excitement was building this week at St Augustine’s as our football team prepared for their big day at Wembley. In the lead-up to the match, the boys had an incredible opportunity to be inspired by a very special guest — David Hodgson, former player for Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Liverpool, as well as former manager of Darlington.
Early Years Celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday
This week at St Augustine’s, our Early Years pupils have been busy celebrating the incredible life and work of Sir David Attenborough, as he marks his 100th birthday! Our Reception children took part in an exciting live lesson all about Sir David Attenborough’s life, learning about his amazing adventures and his passion for the natural world. They also enjoyed listening to a story about him and put their knowledge to the test with a fun quiz—achieving an impressive 15 out of 15!
Cricket Success at St Augustine’s: Year 5 Shine at Festival
Our Year 5 cricket team recently enjoyed a fantastic day at the Darlington Primary Cricket Festival, representing St Augustine’s with pride and enthusiasm. Across four exciting matches, the team demonstrated excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. It was wonderful to see the boys confidently showcasing the cricket skills they developed during PE lessons last half term, including batting, bowling and fielding techniques.
St Augustine’s Football Team Crowned Northern Champions
We are incredibly proud to share some fantastic news from St Augustine’s — our boys’ football team have been crowned winners of the National League Trust Northern Finals and are now heading to Wembley Stadium! The team travelled to the University of York to compete in the Northern Finals, taking on schools from across the region in a highly competitive tournament.

On Monday evening, a talented group of girls from Years 5 and 6 proudly represented St Augustine’s at the annual Darlington Dance Festival, held at the iconic Darlington Hippodrome.
