A Fantastic Performance at the Football Festival
We are delighted to share more brilliant football news from St Augustine’s, as our Year 5 and Year 6 boys took part in today’s Darlington School Sport Partnership Football Festival. The team demonstrated exceptional determination, teamwork and skill across a demanding schedule of matches.
Across ten games, the boys achieved an impressive record:
- Seven wins
- Two draws
- One loss
A strong opening — two wins and a draw — secured their place in the competitive round. The afternoon brought three more victories before a draw and a loss meant the team had everything to play for in their final fixtures.
A High‑Pressure Final Push
Heading into the last game, St Augustine’s were joint top but behind on goals scored. To take the overall title, they needed not only to win but also to score at least two more goals than West Park, who were playing on the pitch beside them.
When West Park quickly took a two‑goal lead in their match, the pressure intensified. Our boys responded brilliantly, taking control of their own game and launching a determined attacking display. Five goals followed — with the last three scored in a dramatic final two minutes.
Champions Once Again
Their incredible effort secured first place overall for the second consecutive week, thanks to their outstanding goal‑scoring ability and unwavering team spirit.
A huge well done to every player who contributed to today’s success:
- Arthur
- Cillian
- Henry
- Hugo
- Jacob R
- Jacob S
- Kyrylo
- Lincoln
- Michael
- Preston
Your dedication, energy and resilience were evident in every match, and we are incredibly proud of you all.
