This week, our Reception children have been embracing the change of seasons as they prepared for the arrival of Spring. They set off on a lovely walk around the school grounds, keeping a careful lookout for the early signs of new life. Along the way, they spotted daffodils beginning to bloom, birds’ nests tucked into branches, insects exploring the grass and many other hints that Spring is on its way.
Their discoveries sparked wonderful conversations and inspired a burst of creativity back in the classroom. The children spent time closely observing real daffodils before drawing and painting their own, paying attention to each shape, line and colour. It was a joy to see how carefully they looked and how proudly they shared their artwork.

As part of their learning, the children also reflected on how we grow during Spring — not only in height, but also in love. They talked beautifully about how they can show kindness to others, share what they have and help those around them, just as Jesus taught us.
Well done, Reception. Your curiosity, creativity and thoughtful reflections have made this a wonderful start to Spring.
