Catholic Social Teaching at St Augustine’s
As part of our school’s Mission and Values, we are guided by Catholic Social Teaching (CST). This teaching is rooted in the belief that God has a loving plan for all creation—a plan to build a kingdom of peace, love, and justice.
Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that God has a purpose for every single person, whoever they are. This calling isn’t limited to moments of prayer or “religious activities.” Instead, it shapes every aspect of our lives—how we treat others, the choices we make, and how we live as responsible global citizens.
We believe that each of us has a vocation to work for the common good. This means recognising one another as brothers and sisters and responding with compassion, fairness, and respect. It is a shared responsibility that we carry together as a school community.
The Catholic Church highlights seven principles of social teaching. These principles underpin our daily life at St Augustine’s. We share them with our children through:
- the curriculum
- special events and celebrations
- faith‑filled experiences
- the ordinary actions and interactions that shape our school day
These teachings help our pupils grow as thoughtful, compassionate individuals who understand their role in making the world a better place.
