Celebration of the Word at St Augustine’s

At St Augustine’s, we gather every Monday for our Celebration of the Word, a time for the school community to pause, listen, and reflect together. During this celebration, we focus on the Scripture passage from the previous Sunday, helping pupils and staff connect the Gospel message to their week ahead.

Our Celebration of the Word follows a four‑part structure, which typically includes:

  1. Gathering
    A moment to come together as a community, create a prayerful atmosphere, and prepare our hearts to listen to God’s word.

  2. The Word
    We hear the Scripture reading from Sunday’s Gospel, giving time and space for the Word of God to speak to us.

  3. Reflecting & Respond
    Through prayer, discussion, music, silence, or visual prompts, we explore the message of the Gospel and consider what it means for our lives.

  4. Go Forth / Mission
    We offer prayers or commitments inspired by the reading and prepare to go out and live the Gospel message throughout the week.
