Who are the Mini Vinnies?
Mini Vinnies follow in the footsteps of Christ and St Vincent de Paul.
The Mini Vinnies are the youngest members of the St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP), an international Christian voluntary organisation dedicated to tackling poverty in all its forms by providing practical assistance to people in need.
The Mini Vinnies get together in primary schools and parishes across England and Wales to live out their mission of see, think, do, supporting their school community and beyond alongside the SVP. Most Mini Vinnies are between the ages of seven and eleven, but even children as young as five are living out the mission too.

Mini Vinnies turn concern into action!
Here are some of the activities our Mini Vinnies at St Augustine's have already achieved in 2023-2024:
We started our year by supporting the SVP host the coffee morning after Sunday mass raising £550 for the SVP to continue helping and serving the needy.
We collected a staggering amount of food donations for Harvest, which has been greatly needed and appreciated at the food bank and also raised £228 for Cafod’s Harvest appeal.
Through our PJ day- organised with the School council- we raised £229 which was split between our chosen charities; Children in need and First Stop Darlington.
Some of our children helped to serve food at the Tuesday lunch group, their company, conversation and presence was enjoyed. We also helped to sell Christmas cards and money made was donated to the SVP.
In December, we designed our own Christmas cards and sent them out to the housebound and those in need. We also made up hampers with your generous donations and were delivered to the ‘delight of recipients’ .
Throughout the term, we have collected for Food bank Friday, which is the first Friday of every month. This is something, which we will be continuing throughout the year as the need for these donations is increasing.
