Be Spirited

Throughout the school year we hold "Be Spirited" sessions where we invite family and friends from the school and local community to join us.  The sessions provide the children with an opportunity to reflect on scripture stories and pray in different and creative ways.

First Holy Communion

Every year we enjoy celebrating Frist Holy Communion in our Parish Church.  Here are some pictures from June 2024.

Pupil Leadership

Dear Mrs Whitehead,

As you know, this week Jan Scott and I visited school twice as part of the Learning to Lead Programme. We met with ten children from Ys 4,5,6 in order to prepare them to take an active role in the Parish Sunday Mass.
Jan and I felt that we must contact you to let you know, what an absolute privilege it has been.

The staff were so welcoming, which was lovely but we were both delighted by the children. They were so friendly and well mannered. Without any prompting they spoke openly and confidently about their faith and were able to discuss bible content. This took us by surprise as it was completely child initiated.

In session one the children worked hard to write their own bidding prayers. I escorted the Y4 children back to class, they were sensitive to my mobility needs and without prompting guided me through the step free route.

In session two the children practiced their readings and were so careful about how to show reverence. At the end of the session they thanked us both and one shook our hand.

Today in Mass they showed exemplary behaviour, showing reverence, confidence and clear reading. What impressed us the most was the way they actually listened, particularly during the homily. Fr Tony asked the rhetorical question, “what did we gain from Jesus dying?” Immediately, two of the children responded, putting up their hands. Father Tony was delighted to have this interaction and asked them to answer which they did. You would have been so proud of them, Jan and I were!

Please pass on our thanks to the children and also to Mrs Barr, who helped us locate one of our readers!

Jan and I are very much looking forward to working with the children again, in the week leading up to Pentecost on 19th May.

Kindest regards
Julie Humphrey
